about Folk Marathon
Folk Marathon is a gathering of people from all over the world who play, dance or simply love folk music. During five days around New Year, there are workshops, concerts and jam sessions that are created and shared by the participants on a voluntary basis.
The first Folk Marathon happened in Vienna on 29 December 2010 with around 40-50 international participants. Since then the event takes place in another country every year, organised by a local team of volunteers. Past Folk Marathons were in Prague, Copenhagen, Valparaiso, Tübingen, Brno and Porto. Today, the Folk Marathon is attended by hundreds of musicians, dancers and folkies from all around the world!
The 10th edition of Folk Marathon takes place from Sunday 29 December 2019 till Thursday 2 January 2020 in Ghent (Belgium).
